Mild Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
PTSD is a mental condition that is triggered by an event(s) in one’s life whether witnessed or experienced. Symptoms of PTSD can last for months or years. If gone untreated, it can interfere with your day-to-day functioning and quality of life. Symptoms vary over time in intensity and from individual to another. Common symptoms of PTSD include intrusive memories such as recurrent thoughts of traumatic event(s) (flashbacks) and nightmares. There are also notable changes in mood and thinking such as a feeling of hopelessness; negative thoughts about yourself and/or the world, problems remembering important aspects of the traumatic event; difficulty maintaining close relationships; detachment from family and friends; and lack of interest in life activities. Changes in one’s emotions are noticed as well, such as being easily startled, always guarded, trouble concentrating, trouble sleeping, angry and feeling ashamed.
Services offered at Abba’s Hands for the treatment of PTSD include medication, an Alpha Blocker (Prazosin); group therapy and educational support. Our team will collaborate with you to create a treatment plan that meets your unique needs.
